Tammy - Concept Sketch 2009

First thing I'll point out is that unfortunately my scanner has darkened the colours a bit... for instance, Tammy's fur comes out as more of a rusty brown colour when it should be orange. Really need to get that thing replaced.

Tammy's one of the main characters from my post-Shining Force 3 story. By class she's a Conjurer (read as pretty much equivalent to the Mage class aside from name), and by trade she's a young historian working in the archives at Lookover Tower. She's a Foxling, approaching 20 years of age at the start of the story, and as well as being the Force's main source of historical information is also the primary provider of optimism even in the most dire of situations.

She's a character I've been working on the design of since I started working on the story in 2002. Whilst her general Foxling design is somewhat based on Alef from Shining Force 1, I wanted her to have a more youthful, post-teens sort of age appearance. Unlike Alef, I wanted her to have more noticeable hair (it's meant to be blond and a little more than shoulderblade length), and also make her tail more prominent (which I based upon Minto from Shining Force Final Conflict). As indicated in the notes on the sketch she's about 5 foot 6 inches tall. And yes, she's supposed to be fairly busty.

I wanted her post-promotion outfit (shown here) to be fairly simple; as opposed to many of the characters in Shining Force 3 who tend to be from more prestigious and authoritative roles and thus have more elaborate outfits, Tammy is pretty much a simple maid - an extremely smart one who's developing a major knack for combat magic, but for all due purposes is still a civilian. Her outfit is primarily a green one piece dress with a long pink sash wrapped around her waist and chest to make it a bit more decorative (originally the sash crossed over the middle of her chest, though making it wrap around her bust seemed a bit more "realistic" - not to mention creating the illusion that it pushes her breasts out so they're perhaps not meant to be as big as I drew them ). As a bit of an homage to the Shining Force 1 mages' outfits, gave her similar shoulderpads that matched her outfit, only decorated with the Aspinia Republic's logo.

The picture was drawn (and notes were written) with a 2B mechanical pencil, and it was coloured with regular colouring pencils.
